Brothers Machinery acquires Gulf Coast Bobcat from Lyle Machinery; terms not disclosed
Why this matters: our read
I read this as a dealer selling one division to a buyer backed by an investment firm. With no terms published, nothing here tells a reader how staff, inventory financing or the rest of Lyle's business were handled.
Capstone Partners, adviser to the seller, announced on October 7, 2026 that Gulf Coast Bobcat, a regional Bobcat compact equipment dealer and a division of Lyle Machinery, was sold to Brothers Machinery Company, sponsored by Timberline Holdings. The sale closed in September. Terms were not disclosed, nor whether this was an asset or company purchase, or what happens to floor-plan financing and staff.
Capstone said Lyle Machinery is based in Richland, Mississippi, and the Lyle family has worked in equipment since 1958. It describes Brothers as serving the Gulf Coast from seven branches across five states, without saying how many came with the sale.
Farm Equipment, reporting on October 8 and crediting Capstone, repeated Capstone’s statement that the deal makes Brothers a standalone platform with an investment partner, and that the companies plan to strengthen the branch network and pursue compact-equipment growth. Lyle also sells Komatsu, Wirtgen, Sennebogen, Takeuchi and Hitachi; neither source says how those lines are affected. The announcement does not say how Brothers Machinery relates to Gulf Coast Bobcat, and the only account found is the seller’s adviser’s announcement.
Timberline vice president Rich McRoberts said the business was “a highly attractive opportunity for Timberline.” Capstone, which advised the seller, called it its third Bobcat dealer transaction since February 2024.
